We offer a large variety of Direct Thermal (no ribbon required), and Thermal Transfer Labels and Cards in a variety of sizes. Email or call us if you have questions about the proper label or ribbon for your printer.
There are two basic types of thermal printer labels. Direct Thermal Labels form an image with heat alone--no ribbon required. The small printers commonly provided by UPS, FedEx, or others are normally Direct Thermal Printers.
Thermal Transfer Labels are used in conjunction with Thermal Transfer Ribbons. Most large printers, and higher volume applications, use Thermal Transfer Labels, and Thermal Ribbons. In general, Thermal Transfer has a lower overall cost per label, and is more flexible.
Some of the more flexible aspects include label stock in colors, or special materials such as Polyester or Kimdura.
In order to order the correct thermal labels, you need to consider the following:
- Direct Thermal or Thermal Transfer
- Roll or Fan Folded
- For Roll Labels (the most common), the diameter of the core, and the outside diamter of the roll.
- For Roll Labels, is the label surface wound in, or wound out. (Wound out is more common.)
- The size of the label.
